Meaning of Moot

This is a brief definition of moot; a term used, in general, in the field of procedural law within the United States: A term describing a case or an issue that is no longer important_ e. g. , when a party brings a motion to compel answers to interrogatories but the other party supplies the answers before the motion is heard, the motion becomes moot.
